OUR MISSION

CARISMA is a research and training center in the Department of Communication at Michigan State University, founded in 2016. CARISMA is dedicated to the study of human experience in Virtual and Augmented Realities (VR/AR).

VR/AR will fundamentally change the way we learn and work, play and communicate. Yet, how this is concretely going to happen, and what the transformative impact of the emergent technologies will be  is an open question.

CARISMA contributes to fill this void. Taking a social science perspective, CARISMA aims to lay the scientific groundworks for an evidence-based, human-centered design of next generation information and communication technologies.
